,Becker Manufacturer Quality Award’ for Murakami Ironworks
Hamburg / Imabari City, 1 April 2025 – Becker Marine Systems has presented Murakami Ironworks Co., Ltd. with the Becker Manufacturer Quality Award. The award ceremony took place on 31 March 2025 in Imabari City, Japan, recognising the outstanding quality and reliable collaboration with the Japanese rudder system manufacturer.
Murakami Ironworks has been a valued partner of Becker Marine Systems since 2017 and has since produced almost 100 rudder systems on behalf of Becker Marine Systems for various ship types – including container vessels, vehicle carriers and RoPax ships. These products have been delivered to customers such as Imabari Shipbuilding and JMU (Japan Marine United Corporation).
"With this award, we wish to honour our partner’s consistently high manufacturing quality, exemplary adherence to delivery schedules, as well as their solution-oriented and open communication," said Henning Kuhlmann, Managing Director of Becker Marine Systems. "The zero per cent failure rate in Factory Acceptance Tests speaks for itself."
The award has been presented by Henning Kuhlmann at the headquarter of the manufacturer in Imabari City. From Murakami Ironworks, President Masahiro Murakami and Director Yoshihiro Murakami attended with their team. Also attending was Mr. Takayoshi Nakashima, President of our strategic partner Nakashima Propeller Co. in Okayama. The award ceremony was followed by a banquet in a familiar setting.
With the Becker Quality Award, Becker Marine Systems strengthens and supports the quality system of Murakmi Iron Works and plans to take the successful partnership to the next level. The focus is on mutual understanding and trust in the area of quality assurance - “...and not only in this area; the Becker and Murakami teams have great appreciation for each other at all levels,” comments Kuhlmann.
