Becker Marine Systems spins off Alternative Energies division

January 4th, 2023

Becker Marine Systems announces that the Alternative Energies division with the technologies of the Becker LNG Hybrid Barge and the Becker LNG PowerPacs® for shore power supply for ships as well as the battery technology Cobra for electro mobility in the maritime sector is no longer part of the company.

The technologies have been developed with the aim of enabling a highly efficient and environmentally friendly energy supply for ships in port and at sea and making a lasting contribution to reducing CO2 emissions. The technologies designed at Becker Marine Systems will be continued by the companies E-Cap Marine GmbH and Lehmann Marine GmbH in the future.

“The path to clean shipping technology is important and good. It has helped to reduce the environmental impact of shipping and improve the sustainability of maritime transport. The development and implementation of these technologies have provided important know-how for Becker Marine Systems,” said Henning Kuhlmann, Managing Director of Becker Marine Systems. "With the spin-off of the LNG Barge and the LNG Power Pacs® as well as the Cobra Battery business from Becker Marine Systems GmbH, we want to focus on our core business again and are striving to meet the continuing high global demand for environmentally friendly propulsion systems. This has sharply risen particularly due to the introduction of the Energy Efficiency eXisting ship Index (EEXI) and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) requirements”
