CMA CGM orders ten more Becker Mewis Ducts® Twisted

French container shipping comany CMA CGM has recently retrofitted two Becker Mewis Ducts® Twisted on 11,388 TEU Andromeda class container ships. Becker´s well-proven energy-saving device for fast vessels combined with a new propeller design is part of an efficiency improvement program by CMA CGM. After the successful installation of the first two systems, the french owner has placed an order for the delivery of ten further Becker Mewis Ducts® Twisted to retrofit all sister vessels in order to complete the efficiency upgrade for the entire Andromeda class series of twelve ships.

Two Becker Schilling® Rudders ordered by IHC

Becker Marine Systems has won another order from Dutch shipyard IHC for two Becker Schilling® Rudders to be fitted to a 5,450 cbm Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) for sand and gravel applications. The order was Becker's first one in the new year and is a follow-up to a series of three orders placed by IHC in 2016. The TSHD vessel will be named "DC ORISANT" and is designed for DP2 class. Becker will deliver two 14 sqm Becker Schilling® Rudders with Becker's KSR King Support Rudder bearing system for reliable and sturdy manoeuvrability.

MESM (Bahri) orders Becker Mewis Duct® for VLCC

Mideast Ship Managment (MESM), a subsidiary of Bhari, has ordered a Becker Mewis Duct® for a 320 m long Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC). MESM is already operating several vessels fitted with Becker's energy-saving device. The ship is one of a series of VLCCs which will be fitted with Becker Mewis Ducts® in the near future. The Becker Mewis Duct® ordered by MESM will be approximately 6.50 meters in diameter and is going to be installed mid next year. Becker´s CFD calculations has shown very promising rates of energy savings for the equipped VLCC. This new order is another step of MESM to operate a fleet of more efficent and profitable vessels for environmentally-friendly operations.

Two Becker Twist Rudders for Matson ConRo ships

Becker received a remarkable rudder order for Matson Navigations two new Kanaloa class ConRo vessels, scheduled for delivery at the end of 2019 and mid-year 2020. The ships are designed by Busan-based company DSEC, which is a subsidiary of DSME, and build under Jones act by NASSCO shipyard in San Diego. The newbuildings will be equipped with large Becker Flap Rudders Twisted, incorporating both Becker´s twisted leading edge technology and Becker's well-proven rudder bulb design. This rudder system ensures great manoeuvring performance in sailing condition as well as excellent slow speed manoeuvrability in harbour operation.

Becker Twist Rudders for four 1,400 TEU ships

Becker Marine Systems has received an order for the delivery of four Becker Twist Rudders. German-based ship owner Nordic Hamburg ordered the construction of four 1,400 TEU container vessels to be built at Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard in Guangzhou, China. The four dual-fuel engine-technology vessels are each is set to accommodate up to 639 units of 45-foot containers and are expected to be delivered during 2018. Becker´s well-proven rudder solution will offer the newbuildings a perfect combination of both manoeuvrability and efficiency.
